Speaking on the Adjournment in Parliament this evening, Opposition MP Tony Abela, a notary, defended his category against attacks that threaten the category which collects huge millions for the government.

Dr Abela said that notaries depend on a handful of civil servants who are too few to cope with the huge workload.

He also spoke about the delays in the road from Rabat to Bahrija which has endured huge delays and said he hopes work is taken in hand and concluded within days.

Dr Abela was followed by MP Robert Cutajar who claimed injustices in government homes for the elderly where employees face lack of airconditioners, and other essentials.

He showed photos showing building waste being dumped next to employees' cars and also in Ruzar Briffa wards as well as dumping of elderly in the foyer.

A person who has a programme on One Radio ridiculed what Mr Cutajar said about the foyer and he was followed in this by a CEO of a government agency who received a series of different postings under this administration.

The Opposition will continue to do its duty. Government must choose people who are competent and reliable.
