Monday, 13 June 2016, 16:18 Last update: about 9 years ago

Tenor Joseph Calleja will be performing in Malta during the eagerly anticipated annual summer concert on Thursday 28 July at The Granaries in Floriana.

Italian legend Antonello Venditti and singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega will accompany the Maltese Tenor on stage in what has become an annual event in the Maltese cultural calendar. As is customary, Maltese talent will also participate in the concert.

For the fourth year running an agreement has been reached between the Malta Tourism Authority and NnG Promotions so that the whole of the standing area will be free of charge and open to the public. This will bring the Maltese's Tenor's voice within everybody's reach allowing classical music interspersed with popular music to be accessible to the masses. There will be seated tickets as usual in front of the stage.

The concert will also include the participation of the Joseph Calleja BOV Children's Choir and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Mro. Steve Mercurio.

Joseph Calleja again expressed his eagerness to perform in front of thousands of Maltese music lovers who attend this concert in what he described as "the highlight of my season". "Once again the repertoire will draw from both the classical and popular music fields and together with the foreign talent on show as well as the input of local artists, the concert will provide a musical spread that will please everyone and people of all ages."

Michael Piscopo, Director Communications for the Malta Tourism Authority, said: 'MTA considers events as a fundamental component of the tourism product. For this reason, we are actively promoting the rich and varied calendar of events that take place in the Maltese Islands throughout the year. The Joseph Calleja concert has become an important annual appointment which draws a huge interest, both locally and abroad, and is a prime example of Malta's vibrant and diverse cultural scene.'

John Cassar White, Chairman of Bank of Valletta commented on BOV's endorsement. "It is indeed an honour that Bank of Valletta is once again supporting Joseph Calleja and his summer concert which has now established itself as an important event in Malta's cultural calendar. At Bank of Valletta we truly believe in the importance of art and culture in one's holistic development. Thus, it gives us great pleasure to be part of this event, which is seeing Malta's internationally acclaimed tenor and a cultural ambassador for Malta, attracting international artists to our shores to entertain Maltese audiences. We are looking forward to yet another memorable concert that will delight the audience."

GO's Chief Commercial Officer, Kurt Camilleri, said, "Joseph Calleja's summer concert is now a regular fixture in the summer music calendar and GO is delighted to be part of another exceptional event. This year's concert will once again give the Maltese public another great opportunity to experience the talent of this world-class tenor and his guests. Maltese talent is of course key to GO's success and throughout our history we have always felt the need to support both technical and cultural excellence in our country. I can assure you that this is something which will continue going forward.

The concert is supported by the Malta Tourism Authority, Bank of Valletta, Go Mobile, GasanMamo and Allied Newspapers. Seated tickets are available from €80 at www.nngpromotions.com or ticket hotline 79071766.
