Two men seriously injured in separate falls at Delimara power station, Manikata

Two men were seriously injured this morning in separate falls, one at the Delimara power station and the other in Manikata, the police said.

Birzebbuga police were called to the power station at 6.55am, after a 50- Greek worker fell a height of four metres while doing some constructions work.

The man was taken to hospital where he was found to have suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli is conducting an inquiry.

Twenty minutes later, the police were informed of another accident, this time in Manikata.

A 62-year-old Rabat man fell a height of two storeys on a construction site. He was taken to hospital to be treated for grievous injuries, but he is not in critical condition.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were on site to assist in the rescue operation.
