A 70 year-old Polish woman who is a resident of Pieta was certified to be grievously injured after a 71 year-old Maltese man, also from Pieta, hit her while driving his Daihatsu Sirion in Lord Byron Street in Santa Venera.

In a statement, the Police said that they were informed of the accident this afternoon at around 12:15. An ambulance then took the woman to Mater Dei where her injuries were certified as being serious in nature.

Investigations are currently ongoing.
