The Mrieħel Enterprise Zone Foundation, a public private initiative for the public benefit of Mrieħel, has appointed Mr Keith Fenech as Chief Executive Officer from 1st August 2016.

The appointment following a public call, forms part of an agreement signed earlier this year between the Government of Malta and eighteen companies operating from Mrieħel. The Chief Executive Officer will be employed with Projects Malta Ltd and seconded to the Foundation.

Mr Fenech will be responsible to the Board of Administrators whose long-term objective is to draw up a vision for Mrieħel that ensures a development which can embrace both private and public investment in a common goal of economic and urban growth respecting traditional urban and environmental qualities. In the immediate term, Mr Fenech will seek to help manage Mrieħel on a day-to-day basis addressing current and practical challenges to better support business operations.

Mr Fenech will be working closely with the Board of Administrators of the Foundation currently chaired by Mr. Louis A Farrugia and assisted by the Executive Committee of the Foundation.

Mr Fenech is a technical graduate by profession. Mr Fenech has over 20 years experience in industry having worked his way up to senior managerial posts within a major international manufacturing firm based in Malta. His background in operations excellence and his various dealings with a diversified portfolio of international clients across the years have enabled Keith to develop a strong understanding of industry-related issues. These attributes will enable Keith to drive the Foundation forward and become a major player in converting Mrieħel from an industrial estate to an enterprise zone.
