Waterpolo: Sliema back on winning trail against Valletta

After two drawn encounters, Sliema were back on the victory track, as they did the league double over the Valletta side. Sliema were in control throughout the match, winning all four sessions. They managed to score on four occasions, in their ten man ups, whilst the Citizens also converted four, but from eleven man ups. Again the Blues had Mark meli and Timmy Sullivan missing, having the same formation as in their drawn match with Sirens. Skipper, John Soler netted a brace of goals, which brings his personal overall tally just four short of a thousand goals.

Sliema went two in front, with Jerome Gabarreta and a Marco Cuk penalty. Valletta pulled a goal back, from Dmitri Kholod, but the Blues added two more strikes, by Kai Dowling and Gabarretta. In teh second period Gabarretta and Cuk took Sliema to a better advantage, but the Citizens also nagged two goals, by Ryan Mock and Michael Rizzo. There were penalties at either end, by Sliema's Cuk and Valletta's Kholod, with Soler's strike taking Sliema to an 8-4 advantage, at the interval.

After teh break Kholod obtained another Valletta goal, with Sliema's reply coming from goals by Edward Aquilina and Soler once more. Moch's second goal for the Citizens was followed by two more Sliema strikes, through Gabarretta and carlos Cluet, as the Blues went on a winning 12-6 lead, into the last session.  Valletta then pulled two goals back, by Kholod and Michael Cordina, but Sliema ended on a good note, as they put three more goals past the Citizens, a pair by Cuk and another from Gabarretta.

Sliema's Jerome Gabarretta and Marco Cuk grabbed a handful of goals each, with Valletta's Dmitri Kholod netting four times.

M'scala recover from defeat by M'xlokk

M'scala had fallen six points behind, after their defeat by M'xlokk, and they couldn't afford any more slip ups. They repeated the first round score againt the Gozitans, although they were pulled back by Otters, who went to just a goal behind, early in the last quarter. M'scala recovered to make sure of the result in the remaining time. Otters were missing Gabriel Mizzi, and M'scala had Jake Bajada missing. Otters did not do so well in their man ups, netting twice from a totla of seven. M'scala had nine man ups, converting four of them.

Michael Borg Millo put the Gozitans ahead, but Duncan cassar and Stephen Micallef turned the score around by the end of the opening session. Clyde Bonello increased M'scala's advantage, with Otters going on to a tie, with a Marko Jelaka penalty and max Borg. M'scala strode forwrd once more, scoring three in a row, by Cassar, who netted twice more, and Joe Cremona in between. At the interval M'scala had gone on to a 6-3 advantage.

After the break Jelaka reduced the arrears for the Gozitans, but Cassar and Micallef had M'scala on a better advantage. Otters came back slowly, with jelaka and Luke Hyzler goals, going 6-8 behind. In the last session Karl Scicluna had Otters just behind their adversaries, but M'scala then took control of the situstion, as they put three more past their opponents, from Jean claude Cutajar, Micallef and Gabor Kovacs. Hyzler pulled a goal back for the Gozitans, but Kovacs added two more goals to his earlier one, as he scored his side's last three goals.

Duncan Cassar ended with a poker of goals for M'scala, with Marko Jelaka netting three times for Otters.
