MSE to see new general manager taking up position five months after being approved

Monday, 11 July 2016, 20:50 Last update: about 9 years ago

Economy Minister Chris Cardona announced that the Malta Stock Exchange will have a new general manager in place come September.

Minister Cardona said this in response to a parliamentary question put forward by Nationalist MP Kristy Debono.

The new general manager is Alfred Sammut, and he will be filling the role a full five months after he was approved for the position.

Mr Sammut has been part of the Malta Stock Exchange for 17 years, where he has been tasked with leading the stock exchange’s human resources and corporate service departments.

The reason given by Dr Cardona for such a delay is that the five months was a necessary transitional period, as Mr Sammut will be fulfilling his new role as well as continuing to take up the responsibilities of his current job.
