BOV awards Prize in Medicine to Dr Sarah Micallef

Dr Sarah Micallef is this winner of this year's BOV Prize in Medicine. She was the student achieving the highest marks in the final M.D. qualifying exam in Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Malta.

Dr Micallef was awarded the prize by Charles Azzopardi, Head PR & Marketing in the presence of Professor Stephen Montefort, Head of the Department of Medicine and Deputy Dean of the Faculty at the Medical School.

"Education features highly on the bank's Community Programme, because at Bank of Valletta we strongly believe in a holistic education, and the importance of rewarding commitment and excellence," explained Charles Azzopardi. "Thus, it gives us great satisfaction to be here today to reward Dr Micallef on her achievement. We are convinced, that her achievements to date will drive her to further her career further."

Thanking Bank of Valletta for its support over the past years, Professor Montefort confirmed, "Obtaining the highest grades in the final M.D. qualifying examinations in Internal Medicine at University level is a great achievement. The BOV Prize in Medicine, which is awarded to the student attaining the highest marks in the written and clinical parts on the final Internal Medicine exam, is an incentive for our students to strive harder."

Professor Montefort explained that Dr Micallef's performance had been consistent throughout her academic years. "She went on to cement her hard work when she distinguished herself by earning the highest grades in the final examination," he concluded
