(2-5, 4-0, 2-0, 4-2)

The champions were coming from a hard fought draw against Neptunes, and they were given a shake up by a Valletta outfit, who came out strongly, to open up a three goal cushion with a last second flick in the opening session.

Order was restored for the saints in the next two periods of play, as they swept past their opponents, and they continued in teh alst quarter, before the Citizens could add on to their opening session tally, but only when the champions had obtained a winning advantage. Young Andreas Galea stood out for San Giljan, with his hat trick of goals, and his side also fared well in their man ups, converting six from ten. Not so Valletta, who failed in their first four man ups, before finally scoring in their last one. San Giljan had Joseph Galea in lieu of Darren Zammit, with Valletta recovering Michael Cordina, taking Daniel Spiteri's place.

Skipper Matthew Zammit shot the champions ahead, with the Citizens responding well, scoring three times in a row, through a Dmitri Kholod penalty, and Charlie Zammit and Daniel Paolella strikes. Dino Zammit pulled a goal back for the champions, but the returning Cordina and a last secong flick from Paolella shocked the champions. In the next session San Giljan pushed forward in earnest, scoring four times without any reply from Valletta. Peter Borg, Andreas Galea twice and Paul Fava had the Saints in front till the interval, on a slim 6-5 advantage.

They followed this up after the break, going past the Citizens twice more, through Matthew Zammit and Aurelien Cousin, taking an 8-5 lead into the last session. Three more positve man ups, by Dino zammit, Galea again and Clint Mercieca made the issue safe for the champions. Valletta finally managed to break through, as James Spiteri Staines scored a brace, for a better scoreline. IN the last seconds Ben Plumpton made a steal, and swam away, to notch San Giljan's last goal of the match.
