The Ministry for Family and Social Solidarity Michael Farrugia announced that the government will be signing a contract for three years with Dar Merhba Bik, for the sum of €342,370 in financial help to the home.

These funds will be helping the NGO with its operative costs and other expenditure such as salaries.

Dr Farrugia said that thanks to this home, victims of domestic violence will not be spending the night at a police station. "That is why this home was set up, to provide shelter for these victims." The home was established with an agreement between the government, private sector and the Church.

Dar Merhba Bik is one of the half-way residential programme.
