Delicata takes its Classic Wine Festival to Gozo this month

Monday, 8 August 2016, 14:47 Last update: about 9 years ago

For the 14th year, Delicata will be holding its Classic Wine Festival at the scenic garden Ġnien il-Kunsill, in Nadur, Gozo, on 19th, 20th and 21st August 2016 from 7.00pm till midnight. The Festival is a celebration of wines, food and live entertainment.

There will be over 20 Delicata D.O.K. and I.G.T. quality wines from Malta and Gozo. These include Gozo's boutique range of wines, Victoria Heights, Delicata's flagship wines  Gran Cavalier and Grand Vin de Hauteville, and other labels such as Medina, Maltese Falcon, Pjazza Regina, Frizzante, Classic Collection and Dolcino. All these will be available to taste as often as one likes.  Strictly no wine will be served to anyone under 17 and patrons are reminded to enjoy responsibly.

The way the festival works is easy. Entrance is free. To sample the wines, visitors can purchase a wristband for the night and a souvenir glass for €14. Showing the wristband at a wine stand will prompt dedicated wine stewards to pour the wine on show in the bespoke Festival glass.

Cooking stalls will serve delicious barbecue food, suckling pig, traditional Gozitan ftajjar (Gozitan flat loaf), fresh baguettes, French crêpes and favourite Chinese dishes. Soft drinks and water will also be on sale.

Apart from great wines and food, the festival will be hosting every night a spectacle of live entertainment by many leading singers and bands. On Friday's opening night,  entertainment will be provided by Ronald Briffa, MAE, Elaine Haber, Gozo Boy, Pierre Zammit and Straight Ahead, while on Saturday night, Pierre Cordina, Novel Band, Rebecca Bonello, Isaiah Muscat, Kelly Cassar and Upper Lip will be entertaining the crowds.  The festival will round up on Sunday night with Francesca Zarb, Sarah Bonnici, D Capital, Joseph Refalo, Jolene Samhan, and Cash & Band.

A private shuttle service will be available on return basis from Mgarr ferry terminal to the Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Nadur. The price for an adult's return trip is €2.

Delicata Classic Wine Festival Gozo is being held in close collaboration with Nadur Local Council and supported by Mapfre Middlesea, Petrolea, APS Bank, Mediterranean Building Finishes and Mediterranean Scaffolding Ltd.
