The elderly man who was taken to hospital in critical condition after being found unconscious at the foot of a staircase in his residence in Dingli on Tuesday died this morning, the police said.

The 79-year-old was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The police were vague in their original statement, saying that the man’s wife heard a noise and found the man lying unconscious.
