PN Deputy Leader Beppe Fenech Adami today said that it was surreal that Ronnie Pellegrini, “one of Lorry Sant’s henchmen, a person close to the Labour government who makes clear statements on Facebook discriminating against members of the Nationalist Party, judges my brother and other PN Councillors”.
The Local Governance Board last week accused former Birkirkara mayor Michael Fenech Adami, Beppe Fenech Adami’s brother, of breaching public procurement regulations when issuing contracts related car rentals, road works etc.
Dr Fenech Adami was asked about the situation during a press conference at the PN headquarters today.
The report claims that the former mayor personally gave work to a number of companies without issuing calls for tenders and without gaining council approval. It also asked the Director of the local governance department to take all necessary measures. One of three members on the Local Governance Board is Ronnie Pellegrini, who is also the Chief of Staff of Civil Liberties Minister Helena Dalli.
Beppe Fenech Adami claims that the report is not a serious one. “It was written, and the choice of words makes it clear, by Ronnie Pellegrini who discriminates against anyone who is PN”.
A few days ago Mr Pellegrini wrote on Facebook that Labour supporters should get preferential treatment.
