Disused Zebbug secondary school becomes new primary school in €800,000 project

The Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools is currently carrying out an intensive school maintenance project worth €3 million.

These include works at a disused secondary school in Haz-Zebbug, which is being renovated and converted into a primary school.

Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said during a visit to the Haz-Zebbug school this morning that these maintanance projects are crucial for an ever-improving educational experience.

He explained that the €800,000 project will also make the school fully accessible to persons with disabilities. The project is on track and within budget.

Mr Bartolo said the Zebbug primary school will move to the new building and the building that is being used now will house a childcare centre and a learning support centre. The two structures will be joined by an undergound tunnel.  

Works on the renovated school include the installation of a lift, new toliets, water and electricity services, plastering, new soffit ceilings and tiling and landscaping of the school yard.

There will also be interactive whiteboards, computers and other teaching equopment as well as sports facilities.
