Three children were seriously injured in Birzebbuga this evening when coals from a barbecue fell off a balcony and hit them.  The incident happened on Triq il-Bajja s-Sabiħa at around 7pm.

Police on the scene found that a 39-year-old Italian resident of Birzebbuga had been barbecuing on his balcony when for some reason barbecue coals fell off the balcony and hit the children – aged 12, 10 and 5.  The police said in a statement that the childrden suffered grevious injuries.

Police investigations are underway.
