A sparkling evening and a sumptuous fund-raising dinner appropriately brought Din l-Art Helwa's 50th anniversary year to a close. This was held in the idyllic grounds of San Anton Palace under the Distinguished Patronage of Her Excellency Dr Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, who together with Mr Preca honoured the event with their presence. The Minister of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change, Dr Jose Herrera together with Mrs Herrera attended the evening, as also did many members of the Diplomatic Corps including H.E. Rob Luke, the British High Commissioner and Mrs Luke, H.E. Ms Gudrun Maria Sraga, the Ambassador of Germany, the Deputy Head of Mission of Spain, Don Pedro Sosa and the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of France, M. Laurent Croset.

A great number of Corporate Members of Din l-Art Helwa lent their support to the event and tables were made up by officials from APS Bank, Bank of Valletta, HSBC Malta Bank, Malta Stock Exchange plc and MSV Life.

The executive president of Din l-Art Helwa, Maria Grazia Cassar made an impassioned plea to the authorities to protect Malta's cultural landscape and the environment, and thanked all the many sponsors, members and volunteers who helped make the work of the organisation possible especially in the concluding event of the 50th anniversary year. Guests were entertained by the brilliant violinist George Curmi (Il-Puse') and his colleague Yuri, the talented Russian accordionist. A delightful painting by Major John Borg Manduca as well as many other fabulous prizes swelled the funds raised with an exciting raffle. All funds collected are dedicated by Din l-Art Helwa to the protection of the cultural and natural heritage of the Maltese Islands.
