The Home Affairs Ministry has announced a call for new Police Inspectors. The role of inspector primarily includes criminal investigation duties, prosecution and police station or branch management.

Minister Carmelo Abela said this call was part of a process aimed at strengthening the force's middle management.

The role requires strong willed individuals who have what it takes to push forward the necessary reforms aimed at modernizing the force whilst bringing it closer to the public. In fact, training will emphasize on leadership and communication skills and proficiency in criminal law.

The training process will include three phases. The first part will consist of physical and medical tests and an interview. The second part is a part-time course at the Disciplinary Forces Academy. During the third and final phase, which is a one-year probation period, candidates will be assigned practical duties related to the rank and will also be given the opportunity to sit for a Diploma in Policing, offered by the University’s criminology department.

Interested individuals can apply with the Human Resources Section at the Police HQ in Floriana by Monday 19 September at noon.
