A two-year-old boy is in hospital after he was hit by a car in Fgura this afternoon, the police said.

The boy was hit by a BMW being driven by a 25-year-old man, the boy's father, who reversed onto the boy in Louis Schikluna Street at 4.45pm.

An ambulance took the boy to hospital for treatment.

The police said on Monday that the boy suffered grievous injuries.

In an another traffic accident, this time in Marsa, a police sergeant was injured when the bike he was riding was involved in a collision with a car driven by a31-year-old woman of San Gwann.

The accident happened in Aldo Moro Road at 5.15pm.

The police officer was taken to hospital. His condition is unknown.
