Marlene Farrugia opens door to setting up of national coalition

Tuesday, 20 September 2016, 06:26 Last update: about 9 years ago

Independent MP Marlene Farrugia has opened the door to the setting up of a national coalition to ensure better governance, real social justice and the safeguarding of the environment.

She said that this is the best gift one could give to the country on its 52nd anniversary since it attained Independence.

Dr Farrugia resigned from the Labour Party late last year after differences with the leadership. She has since retained her place as an Independent MP in Parliament and is planning the setting up of a new political party.

When still a Labour MP, she had taken part in a Nationalist Party activity in protest against the use of ODZ land in Marsascala for the building of a new University (photo above)

Dr Farrugia was writing on Facebook hours after Nationalist Party leader Simon Busuttil also called for a national coalition to fight corruption.
