Speaking in a very short interview on One Radio, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat spoke almost exclusively about the $100 million investment by Crane which will create 300 jobs.

The prime minister, who is now back in Malta, expressed satisfaction at the results of his US travel but did not speak of his UN speech nor of meeting President Obama.

Malta now has the least unemployment since 1979, when the British forces left the island, he said.

The government is not resting on its laurels and is continuing to seek new investment and more jobs.

Bringing in Crane is the equivalent of bringing in SGS in the past.

This investment is from the US, while this government obtained other investments from countries such as China, Jordan, Azerbaijan and now from the US.

This investment brings to Malta quality jobs. The government wants Maltese workers to get quality jobs.

Dr Muscat said that this government is pro-business, pro-citizens, pro-common sense and pro-Malta.

He referred to Dom Mintoff's vision, of living in a country where jobs are not only created for the Maltese, but eve for those who come from abroad. He said there is still a lot more which can be done to fight poverty. Referring to social housing, Dr Muscat said that this government inherited a long list of people waiting to be provided with an accommodation.

Dr Muscat said that by being pro-business, the government still cares about the environment. "We are not in favour of expanding the Freeport and although we are pro-business, we have addressed the fish farms illegalities."

On the Manoel Island issue, the Prime Minister said that he instructed Minister Owen Bonnici to look closely at the contract and found out that the public was right. He said the government took the necessary action after the PN administration remained idle for 13 years.
