The Nationalist Party will strive to improve the quality of education in Malta, leading to good quality students who find the best jobs.

This was stated by Education Shadow Minister Therese Comodini Cachia during a meeting with the Rector of the University of Malta, Professor Alfred Vella.

Dr Comodini Cachia, a PN MEP, spoke on the need for university to give opportunities to mature students. While many saw the university as a place where one went to read and study, the PN also saw it as a place where one can enhance thought.

The university should not stop at Doctorate research but go beyond and increase its contribution to society. Dr Comodini Cachia also stressed that EU funds were crucial for the university to grow but the country also had to invest more in research.

Professor Vella said mature students should also be given assistance because they would be studying and raising a family simultaneously. He also spoke about security problems in the country and said more opportunities for education should be given to foreigners living in Malta.
