An elderly man is in hospital after falling two storeys as he lost his balance while on a ladder in a residential block in Valletta this morning, the police said.

The accident happened in Santa Lucija Street at 8.45am.

The 68-year-old Floriana resident was given first assistance by a medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department before being taken to hospital.

He suffered serious injuries, the police said later.
