A 32-year-old Sebian man, resident of St Paul’s Bay, was arraigned in court this morning in connection with a string of thefts and damages after he was spotted breaking into a vehicle.
The incident took place on 19 October at around 1.15pm. Eyewitnesses spotted the accused, Curguz Dragan, breaking into a Toyota and immediately called the police. Upon arriving at the scene, the accused made a run for it and entered the home of an elderly woman in an attempt to hide from the police.
The accused is charged with a number of thefts, such as stealing bottles of alcohol from two separate St Paul’s Bay restaurants, electronics and cash from another vehicle, bank statements from a third vehicle and damaging the belongings of a number of people.
Authorities found him inside the home and promptly arrested him.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
Lawyer Yanika Bugeja defended the accused while Inspector Godwin Scerri prosecuted. Magistrate Josette Demicoli presided over the case.
