A 63-year-old Gozitan man died this afternoon when the cabin of the truck he was driving became dislodged and swung forward, hitting a wall.

The incident took place at around 4.10pm in Triq il-Fenek, Għasri.

The police said the man, who is from Xagħra, was driving the Ford Cargo truck down a property when the freak accident took place.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were summoned for assistance but the man was pronounced dead on site.

Magistrate Paul Coppini is leading an inquiry. Police investigations are ongoing.
