The first ever final contesting this new FA Trophy will take place on 20 May, 2017.

Asked by the Malta Independent what in his views will he be leaving behind after his recent appointment within FIFA, the outgoing General Secretary responded “I feel I will be leaving a legacy, a very positive legacy – not on my behalf but within all our hardworking team at the Association.  We have worked hard to see all sectors of football evolve to a positive change.  Moving forward from what we found when this team got elected to head the Association was not easy.  It took us six years of hard work to change all this and get to where we are now.  I would like to mention our hard working President Norman Darmanin Demajo who at times had to take difficult decisions.  You have to be strong and take decisions in order to move forward”.
