Gozo Channel registers record crossings last weekend

Gozo Channel (Operations) Limited has registered yet another positive result in its pursuit to increase accessibility between Malta and Gozo, a company statement said. Latest figures show that an unprecedented number of crossings has occurred between the two islands during the past weekend, between Friday 21 October and Sunday 23 October.

In fact, compared to same period last year, passengers' movements were up by 17% reaching 51,475, while vehicles crossing were up by another 15% reaching 14,069.  In order to provide a smooth, efficient and reliable service Gozo Channel (Operations) Limited, was operating the three vessels increasing trips by 14% so as to ensure enough capacity for this record demand.

This positive result follows the €1.01 million profit registered in 2015 as opposed to the €1.6 million lost suffered in 2012. Gozo Channel (Operations) Limited remains committed to contribute to Gozo’s economic growth and will continue in its efforts to make the sister island a quality destination for its families and businesses.
