Saturday, 29 October 2016, 08:23 Last update: about 8 years ago

Stefano Mallia has been appointed by the Employers Group within the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) as one of three rapporteurs on the Brexit Advisory Group. The Group has been tasked to monitor and report on Brexit as the process continues to unfold. The other 2 members of the Advisory Group are David Sears from the UK and VladimiraDrablova from the Czech Republic.

The Employers Group within the EESC have identified Brexit as one of the key issues that will have a bearing on the future of the EU. It therefore felt the need to put in place a group of 3 experts to monitor the issue closely and to give the Employers Group an informed interpretation of how the process is unfolding and the possible implications associated with it.

Commenting on his appointment to the Brexit Advisory Group, Stefano Mallia said “there is no doubt that Brexit will have profound implications on the immediate and long term future of the EU. It’s important that as employers we understand these implications so that we can implement strategies that minimise any possible negative effects of Brexit. Keeping in mind that the UK is an important trade partner not only for the EU as a whole but also for Malta in particular, I am of course delighted to have been appointed”.
