A migrant has escaped from the Safi detention centre between Thursday night and Friday morning, the Home Affairs Ministry said.

A magisterial inquiry led by Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona has been launched.

Discpilinary steps will be taken against individuals who were responsible for security when the escape took place.

The police are looking for the escapee, but no personal details or description were given to the media.
