MAM, UHM say government objections throw bad light on VGH contracts

Tuesday, 29 November 2016, 08:15 Last update: about 8 years ago

The Medical Association of Malta and the UHM Voice of the Workers said today they are disappointed that the Public Accounts Committee has not yet accepted to scrutinise the contracts signed by Vitals Global Healthcare and the government.

It is the Speaker who must decide whether the issue should be debated in the PAC or parliament’s health committee.

In a statement, MAM and UHM said that this has happened because members of the government on the PAC objected to the request made by the two unions. The government members also objected to the idea that the auditor general investigates these contracts.

This situation continues to worry workers employed in the health sector as well as patients, and also continues to throw bad light on the contracts signed, MAM and UHM said.
