PM pays tribute to Raymond Caruana, says political violence should be confined to the past

Saturday, 3 December 2016, 10:25 Last update: about 8 years ago

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat yesterday visited the grave of Raymond Caruana, who was shot dead inside the Gudja PN club 30 years ago.

Dr Muscat laid a wreath at the foot of the grave.

In a statement the OPM said Dr Muscat has been insisting for a number of years that the murders of Raymond Caruana and Karin Grech are among the darkest stains in our country’s history and that we should all united so that such atrocities never happen again.

“After he had met the Caruana family as Opposition Leader some years ago, the Prime Minister felt that the time had come to pay tribute to Mr Caruana – a victim of condemnable behaviour that belongs only to the country’s past,” the OPM said.
