Microsoft is supporting the 3rd edition of the MITLA Annual Conference. This year's edition of the afternoon conference due on Monday 12th December will tackle the legal implications of Cloud Computing and will again be addressed by leading experts in the field.

"Is Cloud Computing challenging accepted norms and practices currently found under our traditional laws? Is the technology supporting cloud computing placing the legislator in a position where current applicable laws cannot keep up with rapid technological developments? These are some of the questions we will be trying to discuss and answer in this forthcoming conference," explains Dr Antonio Ghio, President of MITLA.

"In discussing Cloud Computing we wil place specific focus on Privacy, Intellectual Property, Consumer and Competition law. The discussion will also review how Cloud Computing impacts regulated industries such as Financial Services and Remote Gaming. Of interest will be the presentation of an online tool develop by MITLA together with other European specialists called 'Cloud Privacy Check'" added Dr Gege Gatt, Vice President of MITLA.

Expressing his satisfaction that Microsoft is sponsoring this prestigious MITLA event, Panayiotis Ioannou, Microsoft's Country Manager in Malta said "the MITLA conference has filled a very important knowledge gap by offering the legal and technical community with an important platform where legal aspects in the daily application of technology can be discussed. Therefore, as Microsoft, we are delighted to be supporting this event for the third consecutive year," said Panayiotis Ioannou.

"The subject of cloud computing is also a very relevant subject as far as Microsoft is concerned. Microsoft has been a pioneer in cloud computing and we have been advocating this technology for many years. In fact, with the growth of cloud services and mobility in the workplace, Microsoft's commitment to its partner eco-system, the business sector and the community at large is to help them transform themselves for the new digital era namely by helping them leverage the opportunities from the Cloud."

"We do this by sharing tools and best practices and as trusted advisors, we help and empower our partners and customers to streamline their solutions, solve their business challenges and achieve real outcomes through cloud adoption," added Panayiotis Ioannou.
