Malta will be joining the various countries around the globe participating in the sixteen days of activism against gender-based violence as called by the United Nations. In order to join in the campaign, a number of public buildings were lit up in orange colour, including the Porte de Bombes, Castille and the three hills fountain in Gozo.
On 21 November of this year, the Minister for Civil Liberties and Social Dialogue Helena Dalli tabled the bill on gender-based violence. This bill will be emending a number of laws and will enforce the Commission against Domestic Violence.
All of this in light of the Istanbul convention which the Maltese government ratified in 2014.
