People want justice, not vengeance, PM says honouring Karin Grech

Speaking at the yearly ceremony near the special memorial set up in San Gwann, to commemorate the killing of 15-year-old Karin Grech, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said the people of Malta and Gozo want justice, not vengeance for what happened in those days of intolerance.

Dr Muscat mentioned both Karin Grech and Raymond Caruana whose killing was commemorated recently and whose tomb Dr Muscat visited.

People must stop referring to these deaths according to the partisan beliefs the people harboured. People are today fed-up with the spirit of intolerance that reigned in those days.

The pain felt by Professor Grech (Karin's father) is shared by all, Dr Muiscat said. He appealed to the investigators to continue their work so that one day justice is carried out.

One hopes that time will soften the hearts and open the minds.
