A man was taken to hospital suffering from grievous injuries after he was hit by a car in St Julian's this morning, the police said.

The accident happened in St George's Road at 9.25am.

The 30-year-old, an Italian who resides in Ghajnsielem, was hit by a Toyota Townace being driven by a 24-year-old of Zebbug in the direction of Sliema.

Ten minutes later, in Qormi, a 73-year-old woman was also hit by a car and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The 73-year-old, of Qormi, was hit by a Toyota Corolla driven by a 56-year-old woman of Sliema.
