For the past 27 years, the Internet has formed part of our daily work. More so recently, that technology has grown exponentially.
One may become conscious of such a change even when retrospectively, we take a look at the evolution the Internet made in itself. This can clearly observe this by watching the following YouTube clip which is related to this matter: http://bit.ly/28XlOVp.
This clip brings together a number of millennials watching the Internet at its early stages, namely that in the 1990s! Their reaction is worth every minute of the video clip! However, what is more fantastic, are the multiple and varied possibilities offered by what is known as the 'Internet of Things' or 'IoT'.
This implies the manner of ubiquity which exists between technology and daily commute - whatever that may be. The Internet of Things is present and brings about change, and change to the better. It has been estimated that by the year 2020, an approximate 20.8 billion items will be connected to the Internet of Things.
As may be envisaged, when addressing the ubiquity of the Internet of Things, we are touching on a number of elements, which are namely gadgets, software and the connection speed itself, effecting personal, business and leisure lifestyles. These three items work in synchronization together to provide us with an extraordinary experience of life, be it watching a video clip, listening to our favourite music or printing with the latest 3D printing machines.
There is also another aspect which is included in the Internet of Things... that is the email! Without doubt, this forms one of the major elements in our daily communication, though through Social Media, the number of emails sent/received may be on the down side. However, according to Pew Internet, the older citizens' bracket highly favours email for communication purposes.
Returning to the Internet as the theme of this article, it is good to make the following observation: the Internet is not the same as the worldwide web (www)! They are two different things, yet they complement each other! The Internet is the actual connecting element of all that is carried on the worldwide web, since it is the 'International Network' of all the computers together. That is why we access all the different files and websites, and clips and music residing in the different servers!
Therefore, as a conclusion, may I take the opportunity to remind all-and-sundry to use the Internet professionally and responsibly. Remember that not all the information found on the Internet has value.
