Justice Minister Owen Bonnici this evening denied employing people from his electoral district at Heritage Malta.
He was replying to a parliamentary question by PN MP Karl Gouder, who asked if there was any particular reason why more than half of those employed with HM since March 2014 came from the 3rd and 4th electoral districts, which the minister contested on.
Dr Bonnici assured Mr Gouder that all the normal recruitment procedures had been followed.
He also told the PN MP that, while it was true that he had contested the 3rd and 4th districts in the 2013 election, he will be contesting on the 3rd and 5th districts in the coming election.
Meanwhile, Mr Gouder also asked the minister whether he could guarantee that Heritage Malta would never again allow the erection of temporary event structures near the megalithic temples.
The minister said all requests for activities at Heritage Malta museums and sites, including at the neolithic temples, would be evaluated according to the merits of the case but in a way in which the sites were safeguarded.
The government had been greatly criticised in 2015 when a temporary structure, which cost some €58,000, was put up near the Hagar Qim temples for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in November. But the dinner never took place because of bad weather.
