The Education Ministry is to investigate the material on abortion presented during a lesson given in a state school after comments and remarks made on the social media.

The ministry did not say which school it was, neither did it specify the ages of the students involved. The minister also did not give details on the type of material that was presented in the lesson.

In a statement, it simply referred to comments made following a PSCD lesson on abortion.

It said that on sensitive issues like this, the ministry and education directorate always gave instructions for the matter to be tackled in an objective way and take into consideration the age of the students.

The material presented during the lesson will be evaluated, and the ministry will also take note of the discussion that ensued.

The ministry said that it continued to respect the professionalism and judgment of the educators.
