The popular online programme INDEPTH pod-casted on demand on www.independent.com.mt has recently launched a new advertising platform which will give viewers the opportunity to receive instant commercial information while watching the programme in a discrete lower-third of screen banner format. The new digital advertising platform will offer clients who want to advertise their products and services the opportunity to book with The Malta Independent sales team campaigns that will give prominence to their brands in the overlay banner during INDEPTH, which is filmed and presented to viewers in full-HD format.

INDEPTH has become one of Malta’s most watched current affairs programmes in the span of a few weeks. The interviewing style of pressing prominent public figures with hard questions has been welcomed by thousands of viewers who have flocked to watch the series at their preferred time of day given that INDEPTH is not a scheduled programme like those broadcast on TV but offers the flexibility on-demand. So far the programme has generated more than one-third of a million views with an average of 28,000 views per programme. The most watched programme so far was with PN candidate Salvu Mallia, which registered a record 55,000 views in one week.

INDEPTH is presented by Pierre Portelli, Stephen Calleja and Rachel Attard, produced by Andre Camilleri and filmed at Studio7.

“The Malta Independent will continue to invest in new digital technology to enhance our online news portal with better content and effective business solutions for our clients,” says Pierre Portelli, Director of Content and Business at Standard Publications Ltd.

The Malta Independent news portal is currently ranking as the second most viewed all-news portal in Malta after The Times, according to ALEXA, the world’s most trusted ranking site operated by Amazon. TVM, which offers a wide range of entertainment programmes on its portal besides a news section, ranks fourth in the list of portals followed in Malta.

The new advertising banners overlaid on video in The Malta Independent is the first of its kind in Malta. Other similar options are only available on global platforms such as Google and YouTube which are not accessed through the Malta Independent news portal. In-house analytics show that the profile of viewers on www.independent.com.mt are evenly split between males and females of which a high percentage enjoy strong purchasing power.
