Man pleads guilty to obtaining VRT certificate through irregular means

A man refused legal aid and pleaded guilty to charges relating to obtaining a VRT certificate through irregular means for an unroadworthy vehicle.

Mr Godfrey Formosa, 38 from Naxxar, was charged by the prosecution, led by police inspector Sergio Pisani, with trading in influence, malicious use of false declarations on certificates, making a false declaration to a public authority, forgery of private writings, and driving a vehicle without a valid road license.

The prosecution argued that investigations showed that the accused had made use of VRT certificates issued under irregular pretences, and the car following tests was found to not be roadworthy. The court heard how the man is a vehicle collector.

The court heard how the man cooperated with the police.

Presiding Magistrate Gabriella Vella will deliver her decision on the case tomorrow.
