Panama in Luxembourg: more open and transparent – Arnold Cassola

Wednesday, 1 March 2017, 10:47 Last update: about 8 years ago

Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Arnold Cassola said that the fact-finding mission the PANA committee will be embarking upon in Luxembourg will be a more open and transparent exercise than the one which took place in Malta last week.

Tomorrow and Friday the PANA committee will be travelling to Luxembourg for their fact finding mission.... as they did in Malta, Prof. Cassola said on Facebook.

“Unlike Malta, where the meeting venues and times were changed various times and when journalists were not given any programme of visits in order to keep them away as far as possible from Konrad and Co, there is much less secrecy in Luxembourg.

“Unlike Malta, Luxembourg does not have any politicians or Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) involved in the Panama affair. But they do have their Brian Tonnas and Keith Schembris. The major ones being the Directors of the Experta Bank and tax advisers Albert Wildgen of Wildgen & Partners and lawyer Alain Streichen, who have all done a "coraggio fuggiamo" act like Keith Schembri, Brian Tonna and Karl Cini,” Prof. Cassola said.

On the other hand the Luxembourg Parliament, unlike the Maltese parliament that refused to meet the PANA committee, will be meeting first for an exchange of views with Members of the Finance Committee in Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies and later in a working dinner with Members of the Chamber of Deputies.

Moreover, the Luxembourg authorities are giving such a big show of transparency (unlike the Maltese ones) that on Friday morning there will be a whole 3 hour public debate with the MEPs, journalists, lawyers, accountants, financial institutions and Banks, the AD leader said.
