Some people will literally try to make money off anything.

An Ebay seller took advantage of yesterday’s shocking collapse of the Azure Window and put up a piece of the famous rock formation for sale.

The item is listed as ‘Original Stone from the collapsed Azure Window *Gozo* (Malta)***’

The starting price for the rock, which is listed as being in ‘new’ condition, was €1 but by 3.30pm it had risen to €20.50.

The item is located in Pisa, Italy, but don't worry, the seller is offering free shipping.

A short item description says: “The most icon natural monument of the Mediterranean has gone forever. The magical Azure Window has collapsed in the night of 08th March 2017. Mother Nature created it and Mother Nature claimed it back.

However, not anything has been lost. We kept a stone from the site and thought it was the moment to share a piece of geological history with the world.

The Azure Window developed through sea and rain erosion of a cliff face over a period of about 500 years.

In December 2016, an emergency order was published prohibiting people from going on the arch, with trespassers facing a fine of €1500. However, this law was not enforced, and visitors were still walking on top of the arch days before it collapsed on last March.

Luckily, the fall happened between the night and the morning, during a gale storm, preventing so anyone to be on top of the arch during the collapse.
