The number of students attending independent schools has been on a steady increase throughout the past six years. The number has increased from 6957 students in 2011 to 7965 students in 2017, an increase of more than 1000 students.

These figures were given by Minister of Education Evarist Bartolo in Parliament this evening, in response to a question posed by Shadow Minister Kirsty Debono, asking for the yearly number of students that attend each independent school in Malta from 2011 until today.

The grand total of students experienced a steady rise from 6957 in 2011, to 7009 in 2012, 7767 in 2013, 7771 in 2014, 7868 in 2015 and 7965 in 2016 till today.

The biggest rise was between 2012 and 2013, where 758 new students started attending independent schools.
