Thursday, 23 March 2017, 15:36 Last update: about 8 years ago

Police officers will begin receiving the first arrears payments regarding overtime work conducted between 1993 and 2009 this year, the Home Affairs Ministry has said

The government had discussed the issue with the unions concerned, so that over a number of years, adequate compensation will be given to officers for the extra hours they worked between the aforementioned years.

Minister Abela was speaking during a ceremony where 39 persons were appointed as reserve police officers.

The Minister and the Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar praised the members of the force, who after a long career chose to continue offering their service on a part-time basis.
