French artist Claudia Vialaret pays tribute to Caravaggio in Valletta

Until 30 March, Claudia Vialaret, inspired by the baroque paintings of Caravaggio exhibits her artworks at the Malta Fortifications interpretation Centre in Valletta, with the support of the French Embassy in Malta, Fortress Builders and the LDXArtodrome Gallery. The French artist introduces digital painting and combines photography with classic artworks.

Ms Vialaret draws her inspiration from baroque paintings - she recomposes real scenes to create digital work.

Fascinated by the work of Caravaggio, she introduces in Malta a new series based on The beheading of St John the Baptist located in the St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta.

"In each of my research, I combine a historical vision and a contemporary technique to achieve a new kind of hybrid image," Ms Vialaret explains. She has recently exhibited in several cities around the world namely Paris, Shanghai, Luxembourg, Roma and Brussels.

The exhibition will run until 30 March at The Fortress Builders, St Mark Street, Valletta.

Opening hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 4pm; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 7pm; Saturday 9.30am to 1pm. Entrance is free.
