An Icelandic hospital has revealed that they have delivered a record number of babies on Monday, exactly nine months after their heroic night in Nice, The Sun reports.

The European minnows, ranked 23rd in the world, enjoyed one of their greatest ever sporting successes when they eliminated England on 27 June last year.

The result sparked huge celebrations from the jubilant Icelandic fans in France and those who watched it at bars and restaurants in their home country.

And obviously the celebrations went fully into the night as Icelandic magazine Visir confirmed that staff at Landspitali hospital were rushed off their feet over the weekend.

A resident at the hospital named Asgeir Petur Porvaldsson wrote on Twitter: “Set a record for the number of epidurals in the maternity unit this weekend – nine months after the 2-1 win over England.”
