The Health Ministry has rejected a report, by the PN media, in which it was claimed that the Mater Dei management ordered the removal of a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows from the Emergency Department.

“The statue was there, is there now and will remain there,” the ministry said in a statement.

Health Minister Chris Fearne sought an explanation from the hospital management after the publication of the report, but was told that no order for the removal of the statue had been issued, the ministry said.

 “Once more the PN media has shown that there is nothing it can criticize in the health sector and that it is resorting to fake news.”

Net News said in its report that the hospital management had claimed it ordered the statue removed because of infection control procedures.
