Malta Concert Orchestra’s inaugural concert at Pjazza Teatru Rjal

On Friday 21 April the Malta Concert Orchestra will be performing its inaugural concert at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta. The concert, entitled Suċċessi Maltin, will see the participation of Roger Tirazona, Catherine Vigar, Mike Spiteri, Maryrose Mallia, Mary Spiteri, Olivia Lewis, Georgina, Lawrence Grey, Luisana Bartolo and Janice Mangion who, under the direction of Paul Abela and Joe Brown, will bring back to life some of Malta's best-loved songs such as L-Imħabba, Marija l-Maltija, Fjura fil-Kantina, Fejn Tħobb il-Qalb, L-Ewwel Tfajla li Ħabbejt, Is-Saħħara ta' Wied Għafrid, Tema '79, Malta, L-Aħħar Bidwi f'Wied il-Għasel, Xemx, Inti Djamant, Kemm hu Sabiħ, Qalb ta' Kampanjol and Kewkba.

The Malta Concert Orchestra (formerly known as the PBS Orchestra) is Pjazza Teatru Rjal's most recent artistic venture. It is a versatile ensemble made up of professional and semi-professional musicians who will be performing in formations of various sizes depending on venue and occasion. Other important appointments for this orchestra will be a concert dedicated to Italian music Notte Italiana on 11 August, participation in the 41st edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu | Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija as well as a Christmas Concert in Gozo. In line with its mission "to reach out to people across the board through accessible and inspiring musical performances", the orchestra's own Big Band will be performing a number of free concerts in various localities around Malta as part of Pjazza Teatru Rjal's community outreach programme Pjazza fi Pjazza

The concert on 21 April starts at 8.30pm. Students, senior citizens and families may benefit from special discounts on concert tickets.
