A man who fell one and a half storeys while abseiling in the Xlendi valley has been rescued by units from the Armed Forces of Malta and the Civil Protection Department. 

The police were notified that a man needed assistance at around 5:15pm. 

A rescue operation, which involved an AFM helicopter, was launched and the man was found and winched up. 

He was flown to Mater Dei Hospital in Malta. 

The police later said that the man, from France and aged 30, suffered serious injuries.
