Three new books for the very young

Monday, 17 April 2017, 15:06 Last update: about 8 years ago

Merlin Publishers has launched three brand new titles for the very young. With only one line of text per page these books target children aged four-plus, who are exploring the new world of actually reading books and not just looking at pictures. Children should be able to read the text by themselves by the end of their Year One.

These new books also make clever use of repetition, which is recognised as a key learning aid to boost reading confidence, especially in a new language.

This series will be welcomed by parents and teachers alike as there are very few books in Maltese for that age range, and therefore these new titles address an important gap.

The books are perfect collaborations between French authors and illustrators and each page challenges the children to some fun predictions as to how the story will develop. These playful guesses make for plenty of on-page games, and will have young children eager to flip the pages to find out more.

Merlin is always very selective in scouting the international publishing scene for the latest trends, and with this new series is proud to introduce to Malta a contemporary continental style of illustration and page design that is not often seen locally.

Merlin has adapted these titles into Maltese, and the children and their parents will enjoy learning new vocabulary in Maltese.

All three books are available on sale at all leading bookshops or online from merlinpublishers.com
