A man was taken to hospital for treatment after a crane collapsed in Swieqi this afternoon.

The crane collapsed onto a building site, causing some damage.

One worker, the operator of the crane, needed to be treated for shock.

The accident happened at around noon in Triq ix-Xiber.

The boom - vertical arm of the crane - toppled over onto the building site, dislodging the vehicle carrying it, which came to rest on its side on stone slabe separating the road from the building site.
